About This Opportunity
Join our dynamic team as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, supporting cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary research on the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) of antimicrobials within the Antimicrobial Optimisation Research Group at the UQ Centre for Clinical Research. This is an exciting opportunity to advance your expertise and build your emerging research profile. In addition to research, you’ll contribute to service and engagement activities, making a meaningful impact in your field.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Conduct high-quality research by publishing in reputable outlets, developing an emerging research profile, and applying best practice methodologies. This includes performing both qualitative and quantitative data analysis, as well as laboratory bench work such as running the Hollow Fibre Infection Model for in vitro PK/PD studies.
- Collaborate on joint research projects, seek competitive funding opportunities, and contribute to translating research into practical applications, including the potential commercialization of UQ intellectual property.
- Contribute to the supervision and development of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students, providing feedback, coaching, and professional development to enhance performance.
- Effectively manage research support staff, addressing performance, conflict resolution, and grievances in line with university policies throughout the employee lifecycle.
- Cultivate external partnerships with industry, government, and the community, while managing laboratory supplies and operations to ensure efficient workflow.

About You
- Completion or near completion of a PhD in pharmacy, pharmacology, medicine, biomedical sciences, microbiology, or related disciplines.
- An emerging profile in research in the discipline area.
- Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.
- Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding.
- Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities.
- Extensive knowledge of in vitro PK/PD infection models.
- Demonstrated experience in HPLC and LCMS.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, education check, mandatory immunisations.
