POSITION DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a passionate and dynamic clinical health practitioner to join our team at the Cairns Clinical School within the College of Medicine and Dentistry as a Senior Lecturer, Paediatrics.
Continuing, part-time position (20%).
Based at the Cairns Rural Clinical School (Cairns Hospital).
Academic Level C: $129,607 - $148,787 per annum (pro rata for part-time) plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is integral to the teaching of paediatric components within the clinical rotations of our MBBS program. As an active clinical health practitioner in paediatrics, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the future of medical education by facilitating and delivering tutorials that meet the rigorous learning objectives of our program. You will play a crucial role in the academic journey of our medical students, contributing to both their education and assessment.
As part of the role, you will be required to travel to other College locations and within the region on occasion, which may include overnight stays, and after-hours work as well as participate in competency and compliance training to ensure a best practice clinical education experience is delivered.
It is mandatory that you hold Current registration as a medical practitioner in Australia.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Paediatrics) or equivalent.
- Doctoral qualifications or equivalent accreditation and standing in Paediatrics and/or equivalent relevant professional experience in a related field.
- Substantial clinical experience in Paediatrics.
- Experience in teaching in the area of undergraduate medical education.
- Substantial experience in the provision of clinical care in rural and/or remote areas.
- A proven record of scholarship relevant to Paediatric health.
- Strong personal commitment to the strategic intent and values of the College of Medicine.
- Advanced interpersonal, organisational and people management skills.
Desirable
- Demonstrated understanding of issues relevant to the provision of academic and clinical services in rural and remote areas.
- Demonstrated experience or skills in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander paediatric health care.
