Security systems role within the Facility Management team
2-years fixed term, full-time position in a central Hawthorn location
HEW Level 5 salary + 17% superannuation and benefits
About the Role
Swinburne University is seeking a Security Systems Officer to join our Facility Management team to assist with the daily operations of all electronic and physical security systems - ensuring that security systems are operational, secure and meet the needs of our organisation.
In this role, you will provide feedback into current projects and required security systems that ensure the University delivers best practice physical security to the staff, students and the community who attend any of our Melbourne based campuses. You will work closely with the Security Systems Coordinator to advise on security systems as they pertain to new buildings and refurbishments.
While this role reports to and receives general direction from the Security Systems Coordinator, you will be required to work with a considerable degree of autonomy.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrated attention to detail as to limit ambiguity.
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently under general direction and continually exercise sound judgement.
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships with management and staff at all levels, and to effectively influence the adoption of best practice strategies.
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation as well as relevant University policies and procedures.
- A working knowledge of complex IT networks and systems and experience with access control, CCTV, and alarm systems is preferred.
Qualifications
- Completion of a degree with relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of experiences and /or education/training.
- A valid First Aid Certificate Level 2.
- A valid Security License.
- Victorian Security Advisor and Equipment Installers Licence or progress towards is preferred.
