About the Role
The Senior Research Finance Advisor will manage a portfolio of complex funding programs, serving as the primary contact for Chief Investigators throughout the project lifecycle. This role involves overseeing all financial aspects of research projects, providing guidance on funding rules, and supporting resource management. Additionally, the Senior Research Finance Advisor will work closely with the Research Finance Manager to implement process improvements and enhance customer service.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintain key relationships with senior Faculty stakeholders and finance services, providing trusted advice on budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for research operations.
- Deliver finance support to academic clients, focusing on complex, high-value funding arrangements within the Research Finance function.
- Supervise, mentor, and train up to three junior staff, while reviewing and improving finance-related processes to enhance service delivery.
- Collaborate with internal functions to support grant budget development, implement system changes, and provide accurate management reporting.
Who we are looking for
You will have a strong focus on continuous improvement, applying agile methodologies to adapt and respond effectively to evolving environments. You will demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently, while possessing excellent organisational, communication, and financial skills, with a commitment to delivering high-quality service and managing stakeholder relationships effectively.
You will also have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in a business-related discipline, coupled with practical experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- A CPA/CA qualification or working towards obtaining it, demonstrating a strong commitment to professional development.
- Experience with Workday, with implementation experience highly desirable.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
