Why your role matters
The Project Manager holds a key strategic position within Registrar and Student Services (RaSS), overseeing the planning, development, and implementation of various projects. This role involves creating project planning documentation, forming and leading project teams, and managing the entire project lifecycle. A key focus will be on engaging stakeholders, ensuring quality assurance, and aligning initiatives with the strategic direction of RaSS.
Reporting to the Head of Student Systems and Projects, the Project Manager does not have direct reports. They may work under a Program Manager or independently manage projects, taking responsibility for the successful delivery of assigned initiatives by effectively directing resources to achieve project objectives and deliverables.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Manage the planning and implementation of projects and programs within RaSS and the definition of each project’s scope, objectives, and deliverables.
- Oversee and manage the delivery of RaSS’ projects and initiatives to achieve operational and strategic goals.
- Manage project dependencies, risks, issues, change requests and financials and work with the project team to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place.
- Proactively lead and manage adherence to UNSW governance pathways to ensure projects are managed within a defined, consistent and proven set of rules for project development and implementation.
About You:
You will hold a relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gain through any combination of education, training and experience alongside:
- Proven advanced project management experience, with an in-depth understanding of the project life cycle and strategic development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
- Excellent consultation, influencing and negotiation skills and proven ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes. Vendor management/procurement experience desirable.
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills and proven capacity to exercise initiative, flexibility and to be proactive in development of robust solutions to problems.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
- Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
- Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
- High level of experience working with a range of relevant computer systems and applications.
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
