Provide comprehensive support for research initiatives and administrative tasks within the Melbourne Medical School, including event coordination, administration of internal grant schemes, and secretarial duties for the Research Director and key committees.

About the Role
The Research Support Coordinator at the Melbourne Medical School (MMS) plays a key administrative role in supporting the promotion and delivery of research and research training initiatives.
Responsibilities include managing event logistics, maintaining website content, drafting e-newsletters, and providing secretariat support to the Research Director and School-level committees.
The role also involves coordinating School-level meetings, organising seminars, symposia, and workshops, and ensuring the smooth administration of research-related communications and activities. Excellent organisational skills are essential to manage these tasks efficiently and support the School’s research agenda.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Running support initiatives for researchers across the School.
- Diary management and meeting coordination.
- Coordinating communications to a broad audience.
Who We Are Looking For
You will have a degree and relevant experience, or equivalent expertise in technical or administrative fields, with well-developed time management and organisational skills to effectively balance competing priorities.
You will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, while showing initiative, sound judgement, and discretion in handling sensitive information.
With a strong work ethic, adaptability, and creativity, you will thrive in a dynamic environment, finding new solutions and working collaboratively with professional staff, academics and clinicians.
An understanding of research administration, grants, and data is highly desirable, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and meeting support. Flexibility and inclusivity are key, as this role requires agility in managing changing priorities.
You will also have:
- A high degree of initiative and sound judgement in solving problems or issues that may arise.
- Efficient time management and effective use of work resources without compromising on quality.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
