About the Role
The Hub/Centre Administrator in the Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences provides essential operational and research administration support for one or more research Hubs/Centres within the School. Reporting to both the Operations Manager and a Hub/Centre Director, this role is key in ensuring the smooth functioning of research activities, offering support across finance, events, stakeholder engagement, and project management. The position fosters collaboration, accountability, and innovation within a values-driven academic environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Budget and finance support including purchases, processing invoices, raising purchase orders, undertaking credit card reconciliations, acquittal summaries and expenditure management of internal schemes.
- General administrative support including secretarial support for meetings (booking meetings, preparing agendas, minutes, action items and following up on same) organising travel arrangements for Hub/Centre members and responding to telephone and email enquiries relating to research activities.
- Support the recruitment and onboarding of new staff to the Hub/Centre.
- Supporting the Hub / Centre to develop productive collaborations with internal stakeholders and external parties, as required.
Who We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and time management skills, strong verbal and written communication abilities, and a high level of independence and initiative. They will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and a keen interest in working within a research environment, with proficiency in MS Office and a willingness to learn new systems.
You will also have:
- A completed degree with substantial relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and or education and training.
- Demonstrated experience in providing administration support with excellent organizational, time management skills and attention to detail with specific experience in one or more of the following: operational support, engagement and research administration.
- Strong interest in working in a research environment and in coordinating team activities.
- High level of independence and initiative.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
