Salary
  • Level A $95,241 - $102,040 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.

Responsibilities
  • Expand and further develop the existing research program in high-energy neutrino astrophysics.
  • Contribute to the IceCube science program and the design of the proposed IceCube-Gen2 observatory.
  • Develop advanced event energy and direction reconstructions.
  • Interpret the structure in the neutrino sky map influenced by sources throughout the Universe.
  • Analyze existing data sets and calculate the sensitivity of IceCube-Gen2.
  • Collaborate across astrophysics programs in cosmic rays and gamma rays, as well as programs in dark matter detection and gravitational wave detection.

Requirements
  • Hold a PhD or equivalent higher degree or equivalent research experience in experimental astrophysics or experimental physics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to develop an innovative research programme in high energy neutrino astrophysics.
  • Advanced computational skills, including ability to develop computer codes for simulation and analysis of astrophysics/physics data.
  • Willingness to travel for conferences and collaborative visits.
  • Desire and ability to co-supervise, motivate, and mentor research students at undergraduate and PhD level.
  • Ability to work in close collaboration with others.
