The Opportunity
Are you passionate about supporting research and higher education? Western’s NICM Health Research Institute is seeking a Research Administration Officer to join the team. In this role, you will play a crucial role in managing the Institute’s Higher Degree Research (HDR) and operational activities and ensuring that all processes and procedures are followed efficiently.
You will assist in planning, developing, and implementing HDR events, meetings, seminars, and training, while promoting the Institute’s HDR research activities. You will provide general administrative support to ensure the day-to-day operations of the Institute run smoothly. As the first point of contact for administrative matters you will manage various email queries and ensure timely and accurate document management including correspondence, briefing papers, agendas, and minutes. Working closely with the Senior Research Officer, Institute Manager, Director of Higher Degree Research, Researchers, and HDR students to support various administrative activities, including coordinating seminars, providing student support, managing candidature, budget tracking and handling financial processes. Furthermore, you will manage and reconcile corporate credit card statements and related paperwork, assist with the reconciliation of purchases, maintain accurate records of the Institute’s assets, and organise purchase orders and process transactions.
This is a full-time, ongoing position based at Westmead campus, although travel to other campuses of the University may be required. Please review the position description for further information.
About You
You are a highly organised and proactive individual with a relevant qualification and/or equivalent professional administrative training and experience in a large and complex organisation. You have demonstrated experience with Higher Degree Research candidature processes and procedures and possess a high level of computer literacy skills. Your experience in monitoring and reconciling financial transactions is complemented by your strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and your ability to think innovatively and exercise initiative. You have well-developed interpersonal and oral communication skills, enabling you to liaise effectively with management, staff, and external agencies, and to establish professional relationships.

Remuneration Package: HEW Level 5 $96,997 to $109,694 p.a. (comprising Salary of $81,964 to $92,693 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
