- An opportunity presents for a part time work life balance role.
- This role will provide technical support primarily for our mechanical engineering teaching labs working in a part time capacity in a job share situation.
- Part-time (two days per week) or 0.4 FTE appointment on a fixed term basis for 12 months.
- Base salary range (Level 6): $87,460– $92,430p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.
About the area
College Services provides academic administration and technical support services to the University’s schools, including Heads of School, academic staff and research students. The team is committed to providing effective and efficient services in support of the Schools’ and University’s strategic objectives, with a focus on continuous improvement and best practice.
About the opportunity
You will provide mechanical technical expertise and support to academics and students. The role supports setting up mechanical and other engineering teaching equipment, ensuring the equipment is maintained and operated safely. In the role you be required to train demonstrators and support any practical activities or research productivity. Mechanical trade skills are highly sought after for this position, with an understanding of data acquisition and ability to apply results to engineering concepts.
About you
- Relevant tertiary or technical qualification or equivalent competency
- Substantial relevant Mechanical trade and or technical engineering experience appropriate level
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Highly developed organisational skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and to meet deadlines
- Proficiency in a range of computing skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email on online/internet-based systems
Note:
- Able to fit the physical requirements of the position Some after-hours and weekend work may be required.
- Current “C” class manual driver’s licence.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Current (or ability to hold) high-risk licences including but not limited to Forklift, Dogging and
Basic Rigging, Gantry and Crane operation, Working at Heights and Confined Spaces.
