Salary Level: HEW 6 + 17% Superannuation

About the Role:
As Art Collections Officer, you will provide support to the Technical Collections Coordinator working with RMIT Art Collection. You will work collaboratively in a team environment and with key stakeholders across the University to support the care, management and access of RMIT’s art assets.
This includes applying specialist collections expertise to carry out collection registration, auditing, digitisation, object handling, art installation, integrated pest management, and preventative conservation and collection research.
This position is ideal for someone with experience working in a museum or gallery, as well as experience working with collection catalogues and databases. If you enjoy working collaboratively to solve problems, and pride yourself on your high attention to detail, this could be a great role for you.
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in collection management practices, including the application of national and international principles, practices, standards, and ethics relating to the documentation and care of cultural collections; and experience in the storage, handling, rehousing and installation of a variety of art collection object types.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in using Axiell Emu or a comparable collections management database.
- High level interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to provide a high-quality service to students and researchers, and to contribute as an effective member of a small team.
- Demonstrated effective organisational skills and a well-developed ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, accuracy and attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills.
