Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate regular checking and maintenance of the Wild Deserts feral exclusion fences
  • Provide assistance in the maintenance and upkeep of field station facilities and assets
  • Carry out conservation management of vertebrate pest species control
  • Assist in ecological and pest control research and monitoring
  • Maintain and complete basic record keeping
  • Provide direction and supervise external contractors
  • Work constructively with a diverse range of people
  • Align with UNSW Values in Action
  • Cooperate with health and safety policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Experience in land management, fencing, infrastructure maintenance, pest and weed control
  • Current manual driver's license and first aid certificate
  • Licensed or willingness to obtain firearm license
  • Accredited to operate machinery and tools
  • Accredited for using poisons or herbicides
  • Experience or understanding of scientific methods
  • Proficient computer literacy
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience supporting projects
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities
  • Commitment to UNSW's aims and values
