HEW 9 $132,790 - $140,744 + 17% Superannuation
Responsibilities
Provide clear, practical and strategic legal advice to the University on employment, industrial relations, and workplace matters.
Support stakeholders to ensure compliance with legislation, industrial instruments, common law, and internal policies.
Draft, review, and advise on legal documents such as employment contracts, service agreements and policies, and prepare necessary reports and briefings.
Advise on, and represent the University in negotiations, dispute resolution, and litigation, including appearing or instructing in relevant Courts and Tribunals.
Conduct legal research and stay updated on workplace laws.
Provide training, support and guidance to relevant stakeholders in relation to legislative change and legal compliance.
Collaborate across teams, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and act as a trusted adviser.
Assist stakeholders to understand key risks and issues, and appropriately balance competing interests, to deliver sound outcomes within a large and complex organisation.
Handle legal matters efficiently and confidently, maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, a high level of communication, and a high standard of analytical thinking and problem-solving.
Requirements
Postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or
Extensive experience and management expertise; or
An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
A Bachelor of Laws degree.
Admission to practice as an Australian Legal Practitioner within the meaning of the Legal Profession Uniform Law (Victoria).
A current Practicing Certificate.
5+ years PQE (or equivalent skill level) preferred, including demonstrated knowledge and experience in both front end and litigious employment, industrial relations and workplace relations law matters.
