Salary
Salary in the range $111,154.58 - $124,619.84 (HEW 8), plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%.
Responsibilities
Provide legal advice on a wide range of employment-related legal issues, including sexual misconduct, bullying or harassment, workplace investigations, workplace health and safety, employee mobility, employer obligations and employee entitlements as well as on student and staff grievance and misconduct processes.
Develop strategies to proactively diffuse or seek early resolution of disputes.
Assist with the conduct of sensitive litigation in relation to employment law matters.
Draft correspondence and negotiate on behalf of UQ and liaise with UQ's insurance in relation to disputes.
Advise on new legislative programs and help develop policy frameworks to support UQ’s operations and strategic objectives.
Foster strong stakeholder relationships while driving innovation, improving efficiencies, managing risks, and enhancing legal resources for UQ.
Requirements
Admitted as a Solicitor or Barrister of the Supreme Court of Queensland, with a minimum of 4 years post admission experience preferred.
Significant experience in both contentious and advisory aspects of employment law including unfair dismissal, employment contracts and termination of employment.
Experience advising on claims involving allegations of discrimination, bullying and sexual misconduct including relevant court and tribunal processes & dispute resolution strategies.
Sound working knowledge of court processes in the Federal and Queensland courts.
Experience in Administrative law and decision making, preferably acting for a statutory body or government entity.
Ability to draft legal documents and deliver high quality, timely legal advice on a wide range of legal issues.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise work, and meet deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality legal advice.
