Base salary will be in the range $98,582.63 - $107,349.47 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 7)
Responsibilities
Manage the development of short online courses across five Centre Nodes, working closely with course leaders, industry partners and government organisations to collate content for each course and package into engaging eLearning modules.
Optimise an appropriate online eLearning platform to deliver each course, ensuring that it functions well and meets delivery requirements. Provide training to learners and course instructors on how to use the platform effectively.
Coordinate delivery of short courses including scheduling dates and times, enrolling learners onto each course and leading the technical aspects to ensure smooth delivery.
Contribute to teaching of short courses and/or delivery of training workshops.
In partnership with the course leader, regularly review the content of each short course, ensuring that it meets the needs of learners, Centre partners, and aligns with the objectives of the Centre.
Work closely with the Centre Manager and Senior Communications Officer to organise and deliver Centre events such as workshops, online events, and the Centre’s annual face-to-face training workshop. Examples of duties include liaising with the venue for each event, coordinating event registration, arranging travel and accommodation as required, assisting with developing the agenda and gathering and analysing feedback at the end of each event.
Monitor and report on the effectiveness of Centre training opportunities and events and regularly disseminate findings to the Centre Executive Management Committee.
Measure the impact of short courses and training workshops on the professional development of postgraduate students, early career researchers and industry professionals.
Develop strong relationships with an extensive network of internal and external stakeholders, including academic and professional staff at Centre Nodes and across industry and government partners.
Requirements
Qualifications and training equivalent to an undergraduate degree in science or agricultural science with at least 2-3 years relevant work experience and/or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
PhD in plant or animal breeding or a related discipline is desirable.
Ability to collate and consolidate large volumes of course content from multiple individuals/organisations and create engaging and interactive short courses.
Familiarity with online education platforms, such as EdX or Acorn.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines, solve problems independently, work under own guidance and as part of a team.
Highly developed interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with a range of diverse stakeholders (spanning disciplines, cultures, career stage, gender, community, industry, government).
Knowledge of methods to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of different training opportunities.
Experience of organising and delivering different types of events such as face-to-face training workshops, online events and large symposia is desirable.
Previous experience of teaching in a plant or animal breeding related field (or related discipline) or experience of participating or delivering training workshops is desirable.
