Responsibilities
Develop a portfolio of sustained and significant research performance to attract undergraduate and postgraduate students to the discipline.
Contribute to attracting industry-based research support and competitive external grant funding at national and international level.
Work cohesively within a team environment to strengthen current and future research priorities of the School.
Enhance student learning and experience by delivering a relevant curriculum using contemporary teaching pedagogies (e.g. blended and active learning).
Contribute to teaching and/or teaching development in the broader areas of Aerospace Systems Engineering, especially including HDR student supervision.
Promote cooperation between the university, government, national and international academia, and industry.
Actively participate in service activities within the School, College and University to maintain academic standards and administrative effectiveness.
Requirements
PhD qualified in Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or related fields such as Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
Proven experience in working autonomously, multi-tasking, and prioritizing to provide adaptive teaching methods, such as online teaching and innovative hands-on experiences for students.
Capability and eagerness to engage and network with external organizations, to secure research funding and to assist industry in solving highly complex technical problems.
Flair for researching and sound experience in producing quality research publications and outcomes in areas such as Autonomous systems and/or airframe systems, Integrated avionics, Intelligent monitoring of aerospace systems and machine learning, Next-generation aerospace propulsion systems, Aerospace and/or aircraft systems design, Performance, stability, and control.

Requirements
Hold a doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing in the relevant discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or similar).
Extensive research and development history in academia or industry in the field of composite materials, specifically advanced composites manufacturing, automated manufacturing techniques, and filament winding.
Experience in manufacturing, modelling, and programming of the filament winder; materials selection, mandrel design, and curing/consolidation.
Demonstrable experience in post-manufacturing analysis of parts to understand and optimise manufacturing processes to obtain desired part/component performance requirements.

Work as part of a large international team on wall-bound flows and turbulent boundary layer control.
Conduct experiments in wind tunnel and mathematical modelling.
Develop a novel passive flow control method using micro-perforated surfaces to reduce skin friction drag.
Utilize advanced mathematical modelling and experimental methods for design solutions to improve efficiency in various applications such as aerospace, maritime, gas pipelines, and wind turbine industries.
Contribute to the supervision of honours, masters, and PhD students.
Requirements
A PhD in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
Strong track record of research accomplishments including publications in high-quality journals.
Demonstrated experience in working with wind tunnels and flow measurement devices.
Demonstrated experience in experimental measurement and mathematical modelling of boundary layer flows.
