Opportunity to drive the development of a vital resource for Forgotten Australians and Former Child Migrants
Enhance a nationally recognised tool for child welfare history and research
Salary packaging, subsidised health and wellbeing services, fitness and cultural clubs, Myki discounts, and a 25% discount on graduate courses to our staff and their immediate families!
This role plays a crucial part in the ongoing development and maintenance of the Find & Connect web resource, a vital tool that supports Forgotten Australians, Former Child Migrants, and others who spent time in out-of-home care from the 1920s through the 1980s. As part of a federally funded national service, delivered by the University of Melbourne in partnership with the Department of Social Services, you will update and create entries, conduct research, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and accessibility of information.
Your contributions will help care leavers and their families reconstruct personal histories, understand the historical context of child welfare in Australia, and locate important records. Additionally, the resource is widely used by support service agencies, care providers, and research and policy teams. Since its launch in 2011, the web resource has undergone significant enhancements, and your role will be essential in continuing this development. Reporting to the Program Manager, you will help make a meaningful impact on the lives of those seeking to reconnect with their past.
The position is primarily located at the Parkville campus.
You have a strong grasp of the national Find & Connect services and sensitivity to the context and history of child welfare in Australia, and experience using standards-based content management systems and databases.
You are great at working in complex team environments, with strong research skills to tackle key issues. Your communication skills are excellent, allowing you to build strong relationships with stakeholders, and you're quick to grasp new concepts and handle sensitive information with care.
