Western Melbourne English Program (WMEP) focuses on EAL and CGEA courses that encourage students to develop their literacy, numeracy, digital literacy, and IT skills preparing them for pathways to future studies or entering the workforce. The units delivered have a strong prominence on building macro skills using current and contextually resources tailored to addressing the demands of pathway industries. Students will develop and practice their skills in interactive simulation labs, as well as gain real world experience in on and off campus that will be directly supervised by qualified teachers.
About the Role:
The Manager, Western Melbourne English Program (WMEP) is a pivotal role to the successful delivery of contemporary vocational education and training. Its focus is leading and managing staff, planning programs and financial accountability of the WMEP Portfolio within the Centre of VU Transitions, which offers English as an additional language course for newly arrived migrants. This position facilitates continuous development and growth to domestic students through the programs that are offered.
This position will be offered on ongoing full-time basis at the classification level of Senior Educator Level 3, salary of $120,509 per annum, 38 hours per week plus 11% employer superannuation contribution.

You will have:
- Experience in tertiary teaching environments focused on contemporary learner-centred and flexible education, including online platforms.
- Completed a teacher training course at the Australian Qualifications Framework Level 5, inclusive of supervised teaching practice and studies in EAL/TESOL teaching methodology, or an equivalent qualification, along with a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) which includes Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills (TAELLN411 or TAELLN401); and Design and Develop Assessment Tools (TAEASS502, TAEASS502A or TAEASS502B).
- A mastery of pedagogy, innovative instructional design and delivery methods, and online teaching tools.
- Exceptional people management skills and experience are essential.
- Ability and passion to contribute to business development activities and excel in a commercial environment.
- A high standard of interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to develop effective stakeholder relationships and influence outcomes.
- A multi-sector perspective and understanding of key issues in Vocational Education and Training (VET), Higher Education, and Industry, which informs development and implementation initiatives.
