About the opportunity
Southern Cross University is seeking a highly professional and motivated Systems Analyst to join our supportive Technology Services team. Focus on teaching and learning technologies critical to enhancing the student experience and collaborate with university stakeholders to drive innovation in educational tools and platforms.
The System Analyst has a specific focus on the Blackboard LMS system, which is critical for the University’s teaching and learning activities. The role will provide an opportunity to become an expert in this widely used platform.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Provide expertise in software management, analysis and design to support, maintain, improve and upgrade University critical systems.
- Provide input into the preparation of business cases and solutions proposals and define processes to enable efficiencies in consultation with the relevant Technology Services Manager.
- Building and maintaining effective working relationships with internal clients and suppliers, representing the team at internal and external meetings with customers and stakeholders.
- Liaise with colleagues to understand requirements, performance expectations and associated University business roadmaps, discuss and explore possible system-based solutions and configuration.
About you
You are a highly professional and motivated IT professional with the capacity to grow your technical skills and be at the forefront of technology advancements. You are passionate and committed to ensuring robust systems through professional implementation and software management principles. In addition, you will possess:
- A tertiary qualification plus at least three years’ relevant experience in an IT applications delivery and support environment, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Expertise in the administration of software that promotes student experience and drives student outcomes is highly desired. Collaborate with staff to enhance the student learning experience through developing and maintaining integrations and tools, ensuring system reliability and meeting the needs of students and educators.
- Expertise in application management (LMS integrations, plugins, LTI’s and API’s) and an understanding of how each software piece fits within a corporate or University software architecture.
- Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot system issues, collaborate with teams to develop solutions, and manage user acceptance testing.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies and the proven ability to make recommendations to maximise efficiencies.

- Full-time, fixed-term (12 months)
- Located at either Coffs Harbour, Gold Coast or Lismore. Hybrid work is available or full-time remote may be considered for the right candidate. Generous relocation support available.
- HEW Level 6. The base salary ranges from $88,301 - $96,849 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $113,313.
