The Melbourne Conservatorium of Music is seeking an experienced and accomplished wind ensemble conductor to join as a Lecturer in Music, focusing on leading and teaching the Conservatorium Concert Band.
In this role, you will inspire students by developing their ensemble skills through dynamic, imaginative teaching methods that create a productive and engaging learning environment.
Your responsibilities will include conducting the Conservatorium Concert Band during rehearsals and performances, planning concert programs, and collaborating closely with academic and professional staff, as well as instrumental teachers. You will also contribute to student assessments and auditions and ensure diversity in concert programming. The appointee will work under the supervision of the Wind Symphony director, and in consultation with other relevant academic staff in instrumental studies.
This is an Education Focussed role, and workload for this position is mainly in the planning, coordination, and delivery of the Concert Band ensemble. Additional teaching duties and increased fraction may be considered over the term of the position, depending on Conservatorium curriculum needs and appointee qualifications.
Additionally, up to 10% of workload may be devoted to research/professional activity approved by the supervisor and Conservatorium Director.
We are seeking a dynamic wind ensemble conductor with a postgraduate degree and experience in tertiary or secondary contexts. You have a national reputation in wind band conducting, with expertise in both established and diverse repertoire. Your proven ability to mentor students and lead high-quality rehearsals ensures standout performances.
