The Sustainability Education and Partnerships team is part of the Division of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President, Education. The team is responsible for supporting the education mission of the University to develop citizens’ (students and broader community) for a sustainable future, and championing collaboration, community engagement and empowerment around sustainability priorities. They are also responsible for institutional sustainability reporting and strategy implementation to deliver on the University’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development 2030 Agenda.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our small and passionate Sustainability Education and Partnerships team to support us in delivering our $1 Million Urban Rivers and Catchment Program, funded by the Australian Government and supported by the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, entitled “Resilient Rivers for Resilient Hawkesbury Platypus Populations”.
The Project Officer, Urban Rivers, will work with the Sustainability Education and Partnerships (SEP) team to successfully support the implementation of the Resilient Rivers for Resilient Hawkesbury Platypus Populations (RRRPP Project).
This Project Officer role will provide administrative support for the project and the SEP team to effectively meet project milestones and compliance requirements as they relate to the RRRPP Project Work Plan over the next three years. This will be achieved by providing administrative, financial and logistical project support, in consultation with members of the SEP team. In addition, the role will involve coordination of stakeholder relationships including related committee and working group support, organisation of engagement events and educational outreach, and supporting project reporting, profiling, and evaluation.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in managing financial processes within project scopes, including budget monitoring and coordinating quotes and invoices as per policy, exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with a proven track record of fostering strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including community organisations, high-level computer literacy is required, with proficiency in MS Office, desktop publishing, Excel, digital project management tools, and web research. The candidate must also have the ability to collate, analyse, and synthesise information from various sources into comprehensive reports for diverse stakeholders, such as government bodies and executive leadership. Additionally, demonstrated problem-solving skills, a history of using initiative and independent judgment in complex environments, and excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines are crucial.
Applicants should be aware that this role will be based at Hawkesbury Campus, however as Western Sydney University is a multi-campus university travel to other campuses may be required when operational needs arise. Therefore you are required to have a current drivers licence.

HEW Level 6 $42,943 to $46,029 p.a. (comprising Salary of $36,287 to $39,895 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
Note - the above salary range is 0.4 FTE of the full-time equivalent rate.
