Lead the development, implementation, and operation of end-user support for the University's research computing and data services, ensuring alignment with research needs and a focus on enhancing user experiences.
Provide strategic leadership to deliver comprehensive research computing and data solutions that support the research community, while driving cultural and operational shifts to ensure robust, reliable services across the University.

Lead the end-user support operations for the University's research computing and data services, providing strategic direction to enhance these services in line with research needs. This role requires a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in both research computing and data infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on improving user experiences. Responsibilities include building strong stakeholder relationships, fostering a service-oriented culture, and ensuring robust, reliable systems. The role will be focused on creating a five-year roadmap, supporting the research community, and driving operational improvements in service delivery.
You will have strong leadership skills, capable of motivating and inspiring teams by setting clear expectations, offering guidance, and supporting professional development. Your proven track record in providing strategic advice to senior management and leading the delivery of evidence-based policies is crucial. Additionally, your interpersonal and analytical skills, along with a deep understanding of the University’s research computing and data landscape, enable you to build relationships, foster collaboration, and resolve conflicts effectively.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. Research Computing Services (RCS) is a department within Business Services. RCS delivers the digital research infrastructure and services for researchers at The University of Melbourne. RCS operate on-premise High-Performance Computing (HPC), Cloud Computing and General-Purpose Graphical Processing Unit (GPGPU) computational platforms. RCS operate over 20 PB of research data storage to enable data-driven research and collaboration and a range of data management services and provide a range of consultation services to support the development of custom computation and data management solutions. RCS also contributes to the national eResearch infrastructure initiative the ARDC’s Nectar Research Cloud and facilitate access to Australia’s national supercomputer facility NCI.
