This is an open Expression of Interest for a Casual Academic role within the
DVC Education, Enterprise and Engagement.
Brief overview of us:
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor - Education (Enterprise & Engagement) portfolio partners with industry and community organisations, as well as Faculties and Schools, in delivering university-wide curriculum for interdisciplinary student cohorts.
The DVC-EEE delivers Industry and Community Project Units (
ICPUs) at 3000 and 4000 level undergraduate levels. In ICPUs, students work collaboratively on authentic, problem-based projects developed with mentoring from the University’s external Partners and driven by industry and community needs. Students learn innovative, evidence-based skills enabling successful collaboration with people from diverse educational and social backgrounds and with different personal attributes.
About the opportunity:
The DVC-EEE is seeking experienced professionals to assist in the delivery of ICPUs in a range of sessions (July Intensive, October semi-intensive and Semester 2), with opportunities to teach at both the 3000 and 4000 level.
- The role will perform a range of teaching-related duties, predominantly focused on workshop facilitation and student group research support, as well as the development of class materials and activities, and marking. ICPUs are delivered to an existing set curriculum with a full suite of resources available. Some roles require no lecture development and delivery while for others this will be very limited.
- Casual rates for academic teaching duties include both delivery time and the associated working time (including preparation, reasonably contemporaneous marking and student consultation)
- Pay rates for different Academic Casual duties can be found within the University of Sydney Enterprise Agreement

- Capability in using higher education learning management systems and other education technology to actively engage learners (e.g. Canvas, Student Relationship Engagement System (SRES), Padlet, MiroBoard, Mentimeter) (preferable)
- Capability in networking with and effectively engaging a diversity of stakeholders such as other academics and industry, community and/or government partners (preferable)
- Experience in learning and practice innovations, such as designing thinking, creative thinking and entrepreneurship (desirable)
Since our inception, we have believed in education for all and leadership that improves lives in all the communities that we serve. Our strategy is simple: to create a place where the best researchers and most promising students can achieve their full potential.
