- perform research on photonic micro-electro-mechanical systems
- develop design by analytical and numerical modeling
- develop microfabrication processes in the clean room labs
- develop testing in optics laboratory
- disseminate results at suitable venues and prepare follow-up research projects.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in mechanical or electrical engineering, applied physics or a related discipline
- strong background in design and fabrication of micro- and nanosystems
- solid understanding of physics at the micro- and nanoscale
- solid understanding of micro- and nanofabrication processes
- practical experience with microsystems design tools (FEM simulation, layout editors, etc.)
- practical experience in a clean room laboratory
- Previous experience with piezo-electric thin film deposition/actuation and photonic integrated circuits would be highly desirable.

About the opportunity
The School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering (AMME) is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Micro- and Nanosystems to contribute to cutting-edge research projects and experiments on piezo-actuated photonic micro- and nanosystems.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- work as a member of a team under the supervision of A/Prof. Niels Quack
- perform research on photonic micro-electro-mechanical systems
- develop design by analytical and numerical modeling
- develop microfabrication processes in the clean room labs
- develop testing in optics laboratory
- disseminate results at suitable venues and prepare follow-up research projects.
About you
