Why Your Role Matters:
This Research Fellow (Level B) position in the Centre for Social Impact (CSI) will carry out independent and/or team research within the field in which you are appointed and carry out activities to develop your research expertise relevant to your field of research. This position will focus on quantitative methodologies, progress indicators and big data sets.
Responsibilities
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Engage in individual and/or collaborative research in a manner consistent with disciplinary and interdisciplinary practice.
- Pursue and develop a research program related to the UNSW Centre’s strategic priorities.
- Create impact through various forms of research outcomes including publications in high quality journals, books and conferences and other non-traditional forms such as public reports, educational outputs, and creative works.
- Conduct research/scholarly activities under limited supervision, either independently or as a member of a team.
- Develop and manage large data sets with integrity in the development of impact frameworks and strategies for social good in sustainable and inclusive economies.
- Contribute to the Centre’s research and industry engagement by contributing or leading (under limited supervision) applications for competitive government and industry grants.

Skills and Experience Summary
- A PhD or equivalent experience in business, economics, management, sociology or a relevant field with expertise in social and/or environmental impact.
- Demonstrated track record in research aligned with the Centre’s strategic priorities with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
- High-level qualitative or quantitative research, and a proven record in the use of a range of data analysis techniques; knowledge of appropriate IT software such as Stata, SPSS, Endnote and NVIVO.
- Demonstrated ability to obtain research funding and participate in collaborative research and educational projects.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake independent research, high-level of initiative and flexibility, team- oriented independence and problem-solving ability to meet strict and competing deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience and expertise cultivating and participating in diverse collaborations that include academic and non-academic stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in project management including management of budgets and financial information, data collection and analysis, measuring and reporting outcomes, and the ability to work to agreed timelines.

Centre for Social Impact (CSI) is a leading research and education centre dedicated to working with government, business and the social purpose sectors, to transform social systems and generate sustainable social impact. The Centre for Social Impact is also part of a collaboration between the Business Schools of four Australian Universities.
CSI UNSW comprises approximately 30 staff across research, education, centre operations, and marketing & communications. CSI UNSW is located on the UNSW Sydney campus (Kensington) from where it leads engagements with industry, government, students, alumni, professional bodies, and the community.
