The School of Architecture and Built Environment aligns its teaching and research under the broad theme of architecture with impact. The discipline is committed to regional urbanism, the challenges of working in an age of climactic crisis and of thinking with Indigenous practitioners and communities in working with Country.
Located within the College of Engineering, Science and Environment the School sits within the STEM+M research and teaching environment, contributing distinctive educational pedagogy and research skills through practice and problem-based learning and research. The School aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly with SDG – Goal 11 – “Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable”. They follow the strategic direction provided by UON Global Impact Clusters, with particular contribution to research of quality, depth and impact focussed on Strong Cities, Communities and Regions.
The Professor is a recognised global leader in the discipline of Architecture and has international standing in research through design practice. The School is looking for a Professor who can demonstrate exceptionally distinguished scholarly achievements and will, in turn, be recognised as an eminent international authority in their discipline.
If successful, you will have the opportunity to develop, coordinate and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as well as undertake business development and recruitment of international and domestic HDR students. You will mentor academic staff to develop the School’s collective research profile and lead the School’s thematic research area of Design Research, adopting an interactive learning environment focused on real world issues.
