The Senior Technical Officer is a key role for meeting the defined and contracted research and development goals for the ARC, NCRIS/AuScope and other external (CRC-P, GA, CSIRO) grants held by the academic members of the Geophysics Area at ANU Research School of Earth Sciences. The Senior Technical Officer will be responsible for the management of the RSES seismic instrument pool, providing user training and logistical support for use of seismic deployments in the field including in remote areas.
The Senior Technical Officer will be a member of Research School of Earth Sciences (RSES). RSES is Australia’s leading academic research institution for Earth and Marine Sciences, and ranked 11th in the world for Earth and Marine Sciences (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023). To excel in this role you will have experience in data management, routine maintenance and repair of seismic equipment, and providing training and mentorship to research students. The role also supports the national seismic instrument pool (ANSIR) through maintenance and repair of scientific instruments.
Your ability to lead by example, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, will enable you to foster respectful and productive working relationships with staff, students and colleagues at all levels within RSES in line with the RSES Culture Statement.
