The Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Medicine is a member of the Rural Clinical School (RCS) in the School of Medicine within the College of Health and Medicine.
The RCS, supported by the Commonwealth government’s Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) program aims to increase the number of health professionals working in rural, remote, and regional Australia. Specifically, the RCS provides rural education training for medical students in Tasmania with a goal of increasing the subsequent uptake of rural health careers.
As members of the broader College and School of Medicine academic team, teaching focused Lecturers and Senior Lecturers working in the RCS deliver the integrated rural undergraduate Doctor of Medicine (MD) program. The first and third years of the degree will be delivered wholly from Burnie for the first time in 2025 with year two commencing in 2026 when all five years of the medical degree will then be available to study in Burnie.
Academic Level B
Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $150,759 comprising base salary within the range of $110,992 to $128,854 plus 17% superannuation.
Academic Level C
Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level C and will have a total remuneration package of up to $178,024 comprising base salary within the range of $133,981 to $152,157 plus 17% superannuation.
